Consistently Exceptional

I wanted to take a moment to share just how much I've enjoyed my stays at Moon Over Moose. Each visit has been consistently exceptional from the moment I arrive until the day I leave. The home itself is beautifully maintained and truly stunning, creating a welcoming atmosphere every time. Its location is another highlight—nestled in a peaceful neighborhood that's just a short walk from town, making it easy to explore local attractions.

There’s always something for everyone in the area, whether you're seeking adventure or a tranquil retreat. If you’re in the mood to simply unwind, the house offers plenty of ways to relax. I love sitting on the covered patio or settling into the Adirondack chairs to take in the serene river views. There’s also the recreation room for a friendly game of pool, and opportunities to paddle down the river or stroll along nearby trails.

Whether you’re looking for an active getaway or just some quiet time, Moon Over Moose is a perfect choice. I can’t recommend it enough!

Magical Old Forge Oasis

This house provided the perfect log cabin adventure just outside of Old Forge. The location on the Moose River provided the perfect backdrop to bond as a family. The house itself was well supplied and included all the items needed for a fantastic weekend. The owner Paul is very informative about the area and provided us with great ideas of areas to visit. His response rate was incredible and made for an easy stay with no issues. We were able to take advantage of the Moose River and kayak both directions exploring nature...The deer roam right through your yard daily and just add to the cabin experience. We also had a pair of ducks who would visit multiple times a day. The smokeless fire pit is impressive and I enjoyed trying it out...The house has great walks close by, including a bike trail if your feeling adventurous. This house is a gem that should not be missed. You will receive a true log cabin experience.

Wonderful winter get away

We spent 5 nights in Paul’s home this March. It was the perfect Winter get away. The house is beautiful and well equipped with plenty of space for everyone to spread out. McCaulley mountain (a ski mountain) is just a short 10 minute drive away and the town of Old Forge is just down the road. We can’t wait to return next winter!

Gets better each year

This was our 6th year renting Moon Over Moose. It truly gets better each year. Its nice to see the improvements the owner does each year. It has always been immaculate. The location works well for my group, too. Close to restaurants and shops. You really feel as though you are on an Adirondack retreat when you stay here!

Log Cabin Bliss in the Heart of Old Forge

The cabin is perfectly situated at the southern end of Old Forge with close access to Old Forge but nestled along the river in a quiet residential neighborhood. Views of the river from the house are stunning and access couldn't be easier for kayaks, canoes and paddleboards.

From the moment you pull in the driveway, the log cabin charm of Moose Over Moose is undeniable. The stunning architecture and massive full size logs are a marvel. And, once inside the construction and use of the exposed beams throughout is amazing. This was our fifth stay and we are still overwhelmed by the beautifully and thoughtfully constructed the home is.

Moon Over Moose is set up to accommodate a large group of friends and family but is equally cozy for an intimate group looking for a laid back getaway. The first floor contains kitchen and attached dining area and large living room along with full size bathroom and bedroom. There's plenty of space to hang together or enjoy a book or movie snuggled up by the fireplace.

The basement has a bedroom, foosball, pool table and small living area and is a great space for teenagers or a small group looking to share a beer and a game of pool.

Since I always enjoy cooking at least one meal during our stay in Old Forge, I can provide some details on the fully stocked kitchen. There are plenty of pans in all shapes and sizes along with lots of tools. I appreciate the electric frying pan, which allows more than 1 "cook" at a time in the kitchen space. The island is large enough for 1 or 2 prep cooks and the outdoor grill is under cover and plenty large enough to grill for everyone at one time. Diorio's super market is a mile or so away and is mid-sized but you can usually find any missing ingredient that you need.

If you are considering a vacation rental in Old Forge with easy access to shopping, restaurants, Moose River without being right downtown, you couldn't ask for a better location or vacation home (away from home). My family and I love Moose Over Moose Cabin!

Great Family Time!

Moon Over Moose was the perfect spot for our annual family trip. The kids loved the lower level for their get away area from the adults. The home was well equipped with everything we needed to celebrate Thanksgiving while we were there. The only thing carried in other than our personal belongings and paper products was the turkey and the roasting pan. Everything else we needed we were able to grab at the local A&P market around the corner. Tony Harper’s pizza was tasty the night we arrived. The views, the hike up Bald Mtn, the snow, the wildlife, the gas fireplace, even the power outage due to heavy snow were all just what we needed! Thank you for building such a great place in an awesome location and letting us share in its wonders.

Wilderness Paradise

This place is a gem-we are so lucky that the Choma's are willing to share it with us!

It is beautiful, spacious, and immaculate. The location on the Moose River and just around the corner from the Tobie Trail (for biking/running) make it perfect for families and wilderness explorers. It is close enough to town that you can get there easily (<5 min drive, 10-20 min walk), but quiet and secluded enough to have numerous deer and the occasional bear visit your backyard!

We stayed here with another family-and there was plenty of space for gathering, but also a number of quiet nooks for alone time. The cabin is decorated beautifully-as you can see from the photos. My only caution (as a pediatrician) would be to parents of young children-the staircases are gorgeous but somewhat open. You would need to keep close watch, hold hands, and use the rail-or speak to Paul about how to safely barricade the landings.

Paul was extremely attentive to our questions-answering email almost instantly.

We already booked for next year, and hope to make coming here a new tradition!

Wonderful place to stay in the Adirondacks

We stayed at Moon over Moose for the last week in June 2017. The log cabin is unlike any log cabin I have ever seen. It is fabulous. The kitchen is nicer than my kitchen at home. The location was perfect; close to Old Forge and McCauley Mountain and right on the Moose River. We had 9 members of our family staying for the week and with 3 floors and 4 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms it gave us plenty of room. My family was asking when we could come back before we had even left.

Beautiful house, great location, gorgeous setting. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Owner was always quick to respond to any of our questions. Would definitely stay at this house again!

A Feeling of Happiness

From the moment you walk through the front door a feeling of happiness comes over you. You instantly know you have made the right decision to stay here. We have visited the Adk's many times and have even stayed very close to this vacation home. Now that we have found this home we have no reason to stay anywhere else. The home sits on a quite road that close enough to town that its only a short walk or quick bike ride to shops, store or restaurants. The house was very clean on arrival and everything functioned perfectly. Our first days we had very warm weather and enjoyed moose river and the fire pit. We woke up to snow the next day and enjoyed the fire place, foosball and the pool table. It was a wonderful cabin to stay at to enjoy our family vacation.

Beyond Our Expectations

Having booked on short notice for the last open long weekend in the summer period, we were more than satisfied with the Moon Over Moose rental. The owner was responsive to our initial inquiry and booking, and was more than helpful with pre-arrival questions. During our stay, he offered any help needed that would make our stay enjoyable. The log cabin is immaculately clean and maintained, with amenities that our entire group or any family would be thrilled with. Situated directly on the river, the view from the cabin and back yard where the fire pit is was thoroughly enjoyed. Within walking distance to town or only a short car ride to the many hiking trails in the area, it's location is perfect, along with private. This will be one location and property that is our our list to revisit in the near future.
