Moon Over Moose is a luxurious, five-bedroom log home vacation rental privately located on the meandering Moose River. It can accommodate 10 guests. An ideal location, guests can walk to the shops and restaurants in the center of Old Forge, New York in less than ten minutes. Just beyond the light-filled entryway, the living room awaits you with a stone faced gas fireplace, home theater television with surround sound and high-speed Wi-Fi. Tall windows frame the Moose River and trees outside – seasonal art in themselves, ablaze with color in fall or garlanded in snow. Sliding doors open to an outdoor living area with outdoor dining, Adirondack chairs, fire pit and the fresh balsam air of the forest.
Moon Over Moose is as suited for relaxing after a day of hiking, biking, kayaking, paddleboard, golfing (to name just a few) as it is for high-style entertaining. Full sets of table linens, china, crystal and flatware are at hand, and the dining room table will easily seat eight with additional seats at the adjacent game table.
With its stove, full size fridge, dishwasher, and array of gourmet cooking equipment, this luxury Adirondack Mountain rental property can accommodate cooking enthusiasts or a professional chef. The room has an open layout and a prep table that make meal preparation easy and communal. Just beyond the kitchen is a covered porch with a gas barbecue grill for cooking in the open air.This main level also holds a charming light filled log bedroom with a queen bed and easy access to a full bath with walk-in shower.
The upper level holds the cabin’s spacious bedroom one with ensuite bathroom. A rough-hewn, log frame queen bed and vaulted ceilings await you. Comfy seating and a desk overlooking the Moose River for those dreaming of a quiet and contemplative space for writing. Relax and unwind in the spacious jetted soaking tub or walk-in shower as you gaze out at the treetops!
Bedrooms two and three share full bath with tub/shower are on this upper level. Each bedroom has one queen bed and extra twin bed off to the side - so each room could comfortably sleep three tired adventurers. Bedroom two overlooks the Moose River while bedroom three has a cozy window seat – and both have comfortable seating and reading lights for those seeking a
quiet spot to relax. An alcove at the top of the stairs is the perfect meeting spot for a spontaneous game of cards!
Moon Over Moose’s lower level is where guests will find some of the home’s great diversions: a game room with pool table and foosball table, lots of board games, and a framed poster of the Adirondack High Peaks, just to whet the appetite. The guest room has two log twin beds, standing side by side. A bathroom with shower and washer/dryer are on this floor. A bright sun-filled walk out is just steps away from the comfy television and media area!
This modern log cabin has all the creature comforts of home, nestled in The Adirondack Park, a national preserve. Hand crafted in Quebec, each log was sculpted by hand, not milled in a factory. This home was lovingly designed over a 3 year span involving 2 architects and the owners. Take some time to appreciate the great use of natural light.
If the crisp air turns chilly, head in to the game room for foosball or billiards. A fireplace awaits you in the living room if you really want to get toasty. All of the beds are in tip top condition, so prepare for a great night’s sleep! One of the bedrooms is perfectly situated for mobility impaired guests as it is on the main floor next to a bathroom with a large modern shower.
Prepare a gourmet meal in a nicely equipped kitchen while listening to music played on the whole house Bose sound system. Enjoy your grilled food while sipping wine on the covered patio which was inspired by a national park. Your outdoor music will be the local frogs, loons and birds. Later on you can make s'mores with your friends and family over the built-in fire pit. The smell of pine is a memory you'll have forever.
The view of the Moose River will entice you to explore the great outdoors. Head on down to the dock to launch the canoe or kayaks. The river is home to otters, loons, beavers, herons and moose. If you are lucky you may see them during your stay! Hiking trails are easily accessible and within walking distance of the house. The local bike trail is just steps away and will lead you on a scenic trip into town and beyond!
Private and quiet, yet right outside your front door you’ll find access to hiking trails, the TOBIE bicycle trail, and all the amenities Old Forge has to offer.
The town of Old Forge features a historic movie theater, a community beach and playground, access to the Fulton Chain of Lakes and NYs largest water theme park. Dining and shopping can keep you busy all day. Don't forget to look into whitewater rafting and kayaking while visiting the Adirondack Mountains. You will see some of the most spectacular scenery our country has to offer.
